Everyone I have spoken to about the matter agrees something needs to be done about the Sadlers Farm junction on the A13.

But these same people also dread the construction works needed because of the undoubted upheaval they will cause.

For many people, especially those living on Canvey and in Benfleet, there will be no easy way to avoid these roadworks.

Benfleet and Hadleigh people will, I suppose, have to head for the A127 if they want to avoid Sadlers Farm completely.

But that will mean going via Rayleigh Weir and the access to the A127 there is controlled by traffic signals.

At peak times now, the traffic sometimes backs up to the Woodmans junction in Thundersley, and has been known to reach the Victoria House Corner roundabout at Hadleigh.

Heaven knows what it will be like with countless Sadlers Farm dodgers contributing to the traffic.

There is no simple solution to this dilemma, a dilemma we have brought upon ourselves with overdevelopment
