The British death toll in Afghanistan has now exceeded 300. Will we wait until it reaches the Russian total of 7,000 before we accept that a political solution, which requires the participation of the Taleban, can never be reached while western military remains in the country?

We have invaded four times in just over a century without success. As Albert Einstein said: “To repeat the same mistakes and expect a different outcome is the definition of insanity”.
