THEY’VE already performed live on morning TV in America, in their quest for musical stardom.

Now, the Peppermint Apes are turning their attention closer to home with a prestigious radio appearance back in Britain.

The Basildon band are playing a late-night acoustic session on Janice Long’s BBC Radio 2 programme tomorrow night.

The four members will also be interviewed on the show, which goes out live just after midnight.

Janice, who first joined BBC Radio in the early Eighties, has been prolific in bringing unsigned artists to Radio 2, some of whom, like Amy Winehouse, have gone on to achieve critical and commercial success. She is also a judge for the Mercury Prize.

It’s been another busy six months for the Peppermint Apes, since they returned from touring in America at the end of last year.

They released their debut album Against the Wall, in January, which they promoted with two tours in Europe, taking in Holland, France and Belgium. Three of the Peppermint Apes’ songs have also been featured on TV producer Sadie Kaye’s documentary Sailing Miss Sadie.

The boys were then invited to write a new song for her documentary series Tucker’s Luck, which follows the adventures of a young horse rider.

The band perform at the Americana International festival in Nottinghamshire next month, alongside Marc Bolan tribute act T.Rextasy.

Their next home-town show is at the Castlemayne, in Basildon, on September 16.
