As a Castle Point resident I am fed up with the ever-increasing range of bins needed to segregate my rubbish into.

We already have the black, pink, green and blue bags and the yellow bin.

Now, I read an article in the Echo headlined Food Recycling to Start, so we soon will get another bin for storing stinking food waste in our kitchens.

We will be given a “public consultation” asking which of two choices of collecting food waste is preferred, only allowing us to choose from options already determined by the council.

This means the council will arrive at the decision it wants, irrespective of which of the two options is chosen.

However, there is a third option: Keep things as they are.

If, like me, you feel the new proposals are turning each of our houses into localised rubbish dumps then I urge you to return the consultation paper with the statement: “I want to keep things the way they are.”

Recycling is important, but not when we are required to store all the rubbish, enabling the council to meet ridiculous recycling targets.

Food waste stinks, breeds bacteria and is potentially hazardous to our children.

Stop this before it starts.
