THOUSANDS of kind-hearted supporters have raised more than £125,000 to help a young woman fund “last chance” specialist cancer treatment.

Ella Wolff, 25, is hoping to raise £240,000 to pay for specialist Delcath treatment every six weeks, at the cost of £40,000 a time.

Ella, a consultant at Colchester-based Whitehall Resources, is battling cancer which has grown to 50 per cent of her liver.

She was first diagnosed with ocular cancer, which develops from pigment-producing cells in the eye, after multiple tests in October 2018.

The following month she underwent surgery to remove her eye in a bid to stop the cancer from spreading.

She had a prosthetic eye placed and said she went about life as normal.

But after a routine scan in September 2019, doctors told her the cancer was back in her liver and was incurable.

She was told if left untreated, she would only have six months left to live.

Two clinical trials, aimed at stopping the growth, failed.

Sadly her cancer continued to grow, but she was told she could potentially live until an old age.

The hope rests with the targeted high-dose chemotherapy, delivered directly to the liver.

Thanks to funds already raised, Ella has already undergone two of the treatments.

She said: “We have had 5,300 donors, so even if they all just donated £5 we’d almost be at another treatment.

“The support overall has been totally overwhelming, but I think a bit of downtime over Christmas and the new year was expected after a crazy year for all sorts of reasons.

“We still have time to fundraise for number four so we are still confident we can do it.”

She added: “I am trying to remain positive, hopefully the vaccine will help things back to normal. It is very difficult for someone who has limited time to have to spend it shut in their house.

“I always try remain very positive though, and hopefully my limited time is ten to 20 years rather than less than a year.

“I think the pandemic has given everyone an opportunity to realise what they’re grateful for, me included.”
