A MAN who assaulted a police officer has been ordered to pay compensation.

Paul Andrews, 32, of Vernon Street, Ipswich, was charged with assaulting a police officer by beating him in October last year.

Andrews denied the offence, which took place in Colchester, but was found guilty following a trial in November.

Appearing before Magistrates last week, he was ordered to comply with a community order.

He must complete 250 hours of unpaid work, a 15 day rehabilitation activity requirement and pay £120 in compensation.

He must pay prosecution costs of £620.

A DRUG driver who was found to be over the legal limit has been banned from the roads.

Liam Tighe, 28, was found to have driven his Ford Fiesta on the A133 in Weeley with Benzoylecgonine in his system.

He was found to have 71mg of Benzoylecgonine, a breakdown product of cocaine, per litre of blood, over the legal limit of 50mg.

Appearing before Magistrates, Tighe, of Ellis Road, Clacton, was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £105 in costs.

A THIEF has been made the subject of a criminal behaviour order for five years banning her from entering certain shops.

Sharon Lambert, 44, of Childburn Road, Clacton was made the subject of the order after a conviction for theft from a shop in October.

Appearing before Magistrates last week, the order spans five years and prohibits Lambert from entering retail premises in a certain area in Clacton, or Co-op stores or Iceland stores across the country.
