Drivers are facing delays after two lorries crashed and caught fire on the M25 this morning.

The crash happened at 5:39am this morning with the lorry catching fire at around 5.50am on the clockwise carriageway.

Police and fire crews were called to the scene and as a result both carriageways on the motorway were completely shut between junction 29, for the A127, and junction 30, for Lakeside.

The road is still shut clockwise between J29 to J30.

A spokesman for Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called to the M25, between junction 29 and 30, shortly after 05.36hrs on Saturday, 21 November, to reports of a collision between two lorries.

"Officers attended along with Essex Fire and Rescue and London Ambulance Service. One of the lorries involved in the collision was on fire. The driver was safely extracted from the vehicle with no injuries.

"The driver of the other lorry was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. We await an update on his condition. Three lanes of the southbound carriageway are currently shut to traffic and this is likely to remain in place for some time.

"Drivers are advised to find alternative routes where possible."
