CASTLE Point has seen another significant rise in Covid-19 cases.

In the latest data from Public Health England, figures show the number of new cases per 100,000 people has quadrupled in Castle Point.

The figure went from five cases per 100,000 in the previous seven days to 22 cases in the seven days up to September 4, bringing the rate of infection from 5.5 to 22.1.

The number rose by one in Southend from 18 cases to 19 cases, and in Basildon the cases rose by ten, from 13 to 23.

The number of cases in Rochford fell from nine to three.

The tests are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

Data for the most recent three days (September 5-7) has been excluded as it is incomplete and likely to be revised.

In Bolton, 350 new cases were recorded in the seven days to September 4 – the equivalent of 121.7 per 100,000 people. This is the highest rate in England and it is up sharply from 48.3 in the seven days to August 28.

The rate in Bradford has also increased sharply, from 46.3 to 70.6 with 381 new cases.
