A man is due in court to answer counts of courier fraud in Canvey.
This follows reports two elderly people were contacted in December last year, with one of the victims handing over a four-figure sum of cash.
A 79-year-old woman and an 88-year-old man were both contacted between December 4 and 5.
25-year-old Abdul Sadruddin, of Dod Street in Poplar, London, will is due to appear at Southend Magistrates Court on Monday October 19.
He will answer two counts of fraud by false representation.

A spokesman for Essex Police, said: "A man is due to appear in court following two courier fraud reports in Canvey.
"Abdul Sadruddin, 25, of Dod Street, Poplar, is due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Monday 19 October to answer two counts of fraud by false representation.
"It follows reports that a 79-year-old woman and an 88-year-old man were contacted between 4 and 5 December 2019, with one of the victims handing over a four-figure sum of cash."
