You could be parking for free until December ... if Basildon's plans are approved.
The leader of Basildon Council, Gavin Callaghan, is proposing a six month extension to the suspension of parking charges
This would see see drivers park for free in council owned up until the end of the year.
In an address to his residents, the leader said he is bringing a report to the council before the end of the month, to propose the six month extension.
He said: "We've been thinking about what more we can do to help our high streets.
"This will give businesses some certainty as they plan for the autumn and winter periods.
"It will help get the high streets back on their feet.
"I hope it will have support from all the political groups."
