A woman has been charged with theft and robbery after allegedly targeting four victims.
Carly Clough, 26, of Town Square, Basildon, was arrested on Monday 19 May and charged with two counts of robbery and three counts of theft.
She appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today and is next due to appear at Basildon Crown Court on 18 June.
She was remanded in custody until then.
One of the robbery charges relates to an incident in which a 98-year-old woman was threatened at her home in Hanover Drive, Basildon, on Monday and her purse was stolen.
Clough was also charged with robbery and theft after a wallet was stolen from an 83-year-old man at his home in Brempsons on Sunday.
The other theft charges are in connection with a bag stolen from a woman’s home in Travers Way on Monday and a mobile phone stolen from a woman’s home in Swanstead on 4 May.
