AN initiative to keep music and arts lovers entertained has been set up by one of Southend’s most active curators attracting a growing mass of musicians, comedians and more, all geared up to perform from the safety of their own front rooms.

SoSlam - (Southend On Sea Live Acoustic Music) created The Isolation Rooms on Facebook, last week.

The rolling roster of musicians and other acts perform live to a camera and stream it to the social media site’s public audience, at pre-arranged times.

Audiences can see in advance who is booked to play, by logging onto the page at facebook.com/theisolationmusicroom.

A stream of popular musicians have already played, including Darren Jones, Nicola Collis, Nathan Abbott and more.

Viewers logging on today should expect to see the Dusty Peddlers, Owen Williams and Genevieve Johnson among the acts.

A SoSlam spokesman said: "It’s been a week since we started the page as reaction to gigs being cancelled.

"It was started as a distraction and as something positive. Thank you all so far that have played, interacted and watched. We have over 2k followers already. We’ve started to make some regular features."
