A MAN has been charged with four counts of assaulting an emergency worker in Vange.
Police were called at around 11.10pm on Monday (February 3), with reports that a man was damaging fence panels and cars in Dewsgreen, Vange.
After being arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, the man was then taken to hospital for checks, and whilst being detained, officers reported being kicked, spat at and bitten by the man.
Joseph Sharpe, 25, of no fixed address, is due to appear at Basildon Magistrates' Court today.
He has also been charged with two counts of criminal damage.
