Tickets to see superstars of pop and country in Carlisle are now on sale.

Little Mix and The Shires have both announced they will return to Cumbria next year.

Little Mix will play at Bitts Park on July 24 as part of a series of summer shows that also sees them performing at Hyde Park in London.

The girl band has sold more than 50 million records worldwide, amassed more than 17 million Spotify listeners, received more than three billion Youtube views, and 12 billion streams.

Record sales have seen them notch up a total of four UK No.1 singles, four platinum-selling albums and nine platinum selling singles, surpassing a record previously held by the Spice Girls.

The quartet - made up of Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall - were last in Carlisle when they performed at Bitts Park in July 2017. Thousands packed into the park to catch a glimpse of the girl group.

Speaking about the Summer 2020 Tour, the group said: “Performing live is our favourite thing to do as a band, we love it.

“Our last summer tour in 2018 was one of our favourites ever, so we can’t wait for some more brilliant outdoor shows next year. We want everyone to come party with us in the sunshine.”

And The Shires, the biggest selling UK country act of all time will be playing The Sands Centre on May 12.

The band sold out the venue two years ago and will be showcasing their new album Good Years which is due out next March.

This is the fourth album by singer-songwriters Doctor Ben Earle and Doctor Crissie Rhodes who first came together in 2013.

Since then, their first three albums all went to No 1 in the UK country chart and were top 10 hits in the UK album charts.
