A teenager stabbed during a daytime attack sustained injuries that were were not life threatening or life changing, police have now revealed.

At least six police cars and ambulances were spotted in South Avenue and Trinity Road yesterday afternoon.

Passers by stated seeing a number of armed officers in undercover vehicles, with an air ambulance also circling above the road.

Two cordons were placed around two homes in South Avenue, and neighbours said one of the properties is a bail hostel.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called shortly before 12.50pm on Wednesday 13 November with reports that a man had been stabbed on South Avenue, Southend.

"Officers and paramedics arrived and an 18-year-old man has been taken to hospital by air ambulance.

"His injuries were not life threatening or life changing.

"Enquiries are ongoing. Witnesses are asked to call Southend CID on 101 quoting incident 455 of Wednesday 13 November."
