BOSSES at the Royals Shopping Centre have pledged to invest more in its future.
A posting on the Cromwell Property Group website listing the “asset” as a whole as “to let” has been corrected with the company reassuring Southend’s shoppers it is firmly committed to the shopping centre.
A spokesman for the group said: “Following speculation that the Royals Shopping Centre is on the market, Cromwell Property Group, the company which manages the 280,000 sq ft shopping centre, has this week rebuffed the claim, saying that the Royals is neither up for sale nor is it being marketed for sale.
“To the contrary, the group intends to invest further into the centre.”
Concerns had been raised after the public listing stated the site was “to let” before including details of the major retailers, the number of units, car parking and footfall as a whole in the listing.
There were also concerns after Primark announced it was opening a High Street store, with the future of the one in the centre unconfirmed.
But the owners have insisted it was a misunderstanding and the group is committed to the future prosperity of the shopping centre.
Rumours of flats have also been dispelled with key retail giants remaining.
