Plans to allow more waste to be disposed at a landfill site near Llanidloes have been submitted to Powys County Council for consideration.

Bryn Posteg landfill site, located south east of Llanidloes, has an overtip that was found to be several metres higher than what was allowed.

Owners Sundorne Products (Llanidloes) Limited have submitted proposals for the retention and re-profiling of the existing landfill.

Llanidloes Town Council will hold a public meeting at the Town Hall on Monday, October 28, at 6.30pm to discuss the proposals.

Mayor of Llanidloes Cllr Janet Crisp said: “If you have strong feelings regarding the above application, please attend the above meeting or inform the Town Council by e-mailing townclerkllani@pc-q.net or contacting any of your local Councillors.”

In a pre-application consultation, residents raised their concerns calling it “beyond an eyesore” that has affected their quality of life. “Since the closure of the landfill, we have not had problem with the odour and gasses, which meant that we can leave our windows open at night and breath fresh air for a change.

“Our lives have been considerably less stressful, as it had got to the stage when we felt at the end of our tether as no-one was listening.”

Public comments can be submitted on the Powys County Council planning website by searching for application 19/1477/FUL.
