A WOMEN’S association donated £750 to Southend Hospital’s stroke unit.
Essex Asian Women’s Association (EAWA) made the donation thanks to several fundraising initiatives including members’ donations, raffles and a Bollywood night.
The donation will go towards the purchase of a bladder scanner, a diagnostic tool that measures the amount of urine in a patient’s bladder.
Dr Paul Guyler, Lead Stroke Consultant, said: “As well as the diagnostic capabilities, the scanner will also provide improved patient dignity and privacy and will ensure the comfort of those patients who are unable to verbally communicate their needs.”
Nirmal Gupta MBE, Chair of EAWA, said: “The Stroke Unit has a team of highly-skilled, caring and dedicated professionals who give support and education to stroke patients, and relatives.”
