HADLEIGH & Thundersley skipper Adam Dobson was proud to lead his side to a fourth place finish in the Premier Division this season.

Hadleigh recovered from a slow start to work their way up the standings.

And Dobson was full of praise for his players.

“It was a great season for us,” said Dobson.

“Finishing fourth in the Premier Division and getting to the League Cup semi-final is a huge achievement for us so everyone was pretty chuffed with the season’s results.”

Hadleigh finished just eight points behind third-placed Chelmsford and were able to achieve the targets they set themselves before the campaign got underway.

“We said at the start of the season we wanted to compete with the stronger teams and solidify our position in the Premier Division and we definitely achieved that,” said Dobson.

“What was really pleasing was we only lost five games all season, with four of those coming against teams finishing in the top five so it shows how much we have improved since last year. What’s also great is that it’s largely the same group of players we got promoted with a few years ago so it shows the hard work the team has put in to improve.”

And that hard work also resulted in some memorable moments for Dobson.

“Thankfully there were a lot more high points than low points this year,” said Dobson.

“I’d say the two that stick out were probably the away win against Chelmsford, where we somehow took nine wickets for about 40 runs to win the game, and the League Cup quarter-final win against Wanstead alongside England’s World Cup win.

“Both of those games will live long in the memory.”

However, Dobson remains determined to keep on improving.

“We will definitely look to keep building,” said Dobson.

“It’s very easy to get complacent and find yourself struggling in this league because the standard is so strong.”
