SOUTHEND Saxons continued their bright start to the season with a 32-8 win at Brentwood.
The triumph made it back-to-back victories for Southend in London One North.
And scrum-half Harry Branch, who was among Saxons’ try scorers, was thrilled to back up his side’s opening day win with another strong showing.
“It was a fantastic performance from the lads,” said Branch.
“We wanted to set the standard for the year and I believe we have done that.
“It was a great day for the club with the priors also winning by 50 points and it shows the ability we have throughout our squad this year.”
Southend now sit second in the early standings and Branch is eager to stay up towards the top.
“We set a big target this year and starting the season with two wins moves us towards where we want to be,” said Branch.
“I’m very proud of the lads so far but we have to keep driving our standards and keep our performances high like these two wins to make sure we stay up there.”
And Branch is also keen to keep playing his part after scoring tries in the first two games.
“Two from two winning and two from two scoring feels great at this stage,” said Branch.
“But everyone has been playing really well and that makes my job a lot easier.”
