A WOMAN who died after being hit by a lorry has been named as 81-year-old Sylvia Hart.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on the junction of Spa Road and Eldon Way, in Hockley, at about 12.40pm on August 27.
Ms Hart died at the scene after being struck by a lorry as she crossed the road.
Officers have since confirmed that a 68-year-old man from Wickford was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and was released under investigation.
A post mortem examination was carried out by Dr Simon Payne at Southend Hospital.
He gave a provisional cause of death as head and chest injuries.
The inquest, which opened today at Chelmsford Coroner’s Court, has been adjourned until October 29.
