A derelict bingo hall is on fire.
Dozens of firefighters are currently on scene at the Pitsea Bingo Hall in High Road, Pitsea, tackling the blaze.
The crews were called shortly after 3pm and have sent five crews from Basildon, Rayleigh, Orsett, Corringham and Grays to the scene.
The road has been closed as the emergency services deal with the situation.
Concerns have previously raised about asbestos in the building, with residents advised to stay away from the smoke.
There is also an aerial ladder platform is also in attendance.
Umar Hussain, landlord of the building, said: "We leased the hall out to the company Hereigns Events Management Ltd.
"We have kept it all locked, tight and secure, but now this fire has cased huge damage.

"What happens next depends on what state the fire is in, but we will have to assess whether we keep it, or knock it down and redevelop the site."
