TWO Basildon PCSOs recently visited a care centre for people living with dementia to raise awareness of the Herbert Protocol.

PCSO Lauren Bryant and PCSO Mark Webster visited Peaceful Place in Basildon, on Friday, August 23.

Peaceful Place offers respite care to residents with early onset dementia.

The Herbert Protocol is a scheme that encourages carers to complete a form which compiles useful information, which can be used in the event of a vulnerable person with dementia going missing.

The officers spoke to the residents, played games and offered them advice about any questions they had.

PCSO Bryant from the Basildon Community Policing Team said: “These visits are really important as they help us get to know local care professionals and more importantly individuals living with dementia.

"Unfortunately people with dementia go missing regularly and now we’ve shown them that uniformed officers are here to help, this will benefit them in that time of need.”
