A 12-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after a crash on the Lizard last night.
Emergency services were called to the A3083 at Mile End at around 10.15pm, police said.
Two vehicles had been involved in a collision.
Police, paramedics and the fire service attended the scene and the boy to Derriford Hospital by helicopter.
Police said he was in a serious condition.
The road was closed for a several hours while an investigation took place.
A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "One appliance from Mullion Community Fire Station and one from Helston Community Fire Station along with a Flexi Duty Officer attended this incident.
"The incident involved a two-vehicle road traffic collision. The crews made the vehicle safe and assisted police and ambulance to release a casualty from one vehicle.
"The Coastguard helicopter landed and conveyed the casualty to Derriford hospital."
Anyone who witnessed the collision or may have been in the area at the time and have dashcam footage is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 1034 of 10/08/19.
Police thanked the public for their patience during the closure while the scene was investigated.
