Firefighters rushed to tackle a house fire overnight.
Two crews from Basildon were called to the home in the property in Dewsgreen, Basildon at about 8.30pm last night.
The fire crews found the fire was in a downstairs room and the whole property was full of smoke.
The firefighters wore breathing apparatus and quickly extinguished the fire and cleared smoke from the whole house.
The fire was contained to downstairs, but there is smoke damage to the whole house.
It's believed the owners have been left homeless
The fire service said the cause of the fire was recorded as unknown.
