A COLLECTION of stunning sculptures have gone on display amongst the gardens of a historic country estate.

Marks Hall’s biennial outdoor trail exhibition aims to raise the profile of the estate and its gardens by featuring the work of 51 different artists across the grounds.

The Coggeshall estate’s arboretum, which welcomes 45,000 visitors each year, will be home to more than 250 sculptures created by the sculptors through until the end of August.

Visitors can enjoy a walk around the idyllic gardens of the Jacobean house whilst observing the works set amongst nature.

Kath Cockshaw, executive director of Marks Hall Estate, said: “We are thrilled to welcome several new artists this year, who have not exhibited here before, and we are delighted to see so many returning sculptors who have made new work to exhibit in the landscape and gardens.

“Enjoying art in the landscape is a special experience. The grasslands, trees, borders, structural hedging, lakes and vistas here all provide a truly inspiring setting for sculptors’ work.”

All of the works featured in the exhibition are also available to buy with prices ranging from £70 to £14,000.

One of the aims of the exhibition is to generate interest in the estate, which is run by a charitable trust which relies on fundraising to protect and preserve the historic land.
