Travellers have moved on to a Workington car park - but efforts are underway to remove them.
Seven caravans have pitched up on the town's Central car park.
Allerdale Council, which owns the car park, became aware of their arrival this morning and has begun legal proceedings to move them on.
The group has been served a notice, instructing them to vacate the site by 4pm on Friday.
If they were to remain beyond that, the council would need to secure a court order from a magistrate, which would in turn enable bailiffs to be brought in.
In the meantime, the council is allowing people with permits for its Workington car parks to temporarily use them in the town's multi-storey car park.
Those wishing to use the multi-storey should collect a ticket from the entry barrier, and then on their departure provide their vehicle registration number or show their permit to staff in the office, who will validate it for exit.
Customers are reminded that the car park is open from 7am to 7pm every day (including weekends). The entrance to the multi-storey is on Central Way.
The council has started proceedings to remove the travellers.
