AN AMBULANCE has crashed in Westcliff putting three people in hospital.

Police were called to the two vehicle crash on Hobleythick Lane, near Southend Hospital, at around 12.20pm.

The ambulance was on blue lights at the time of the crash with a BMW.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "An ambulance travelling on blue lights to a medical emergency was involved in an accident with another vehicle at Hobleythick Lane, Westcliff shortly before 12.30pm this afternoon.

"The driver of the other vehicle involved, along with the driver of our ambulance and a Community First Responder who was on board as an observer, were transported to the nearby Southend University Hospital for further assessment and care.
