Police are appealing for information about a crash in Westcliff where a four-year-old child was knocked over.
Officers were called at around 10.55am on Monday, with reports a girl was in collision with a vehicle in Balmoral Road.
The vehicle – which has been described as a black Ford KA – was travelling at a slow speed during the collision.
A spokesman for the press office said: "We understand the driver briefly spoke to the child’s mother but left the scene without passing on any details.
"The girl suffered a bruised elbow but was taken to hospital for precautionary checks."
Anyone with information is asked to Essex Police on 101 quoting incident 357 of 08/07 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
NB: Police initially stated the incident took place on Tuesday but have now issued a correction.
