A woman is accused of a string of assaults including attacks on nine police officers.

Elizabeth Cook, 28, from Godman Road, Grays, appeared at Basildon magistrates' court on Wednesday charged with five counts of assaulting an emergency worker on March 27 of this year.

On the same day, she is also accused of assaulting five female police officers in Grays.

Cook is also facing additional charges of assaulting a male police officer on March 2 and three other officers on April 2, also in Grays.

The court heard Cook also made threats to PC Patrick Wilks and assaulted another member of the public on the same day and is accused of threatening behaviour the following day at Basildon Hospital.

The crown prosecution service also say she is responsible for stealing clothing and a suitcase worth £1,362 from House of Fraser at the Lakeside Shopping Centre.

Cook denied all 19 charges and was remanded in custody.

She will next appear at the same court next month.
