TRAIN enthusiasts are being given the opportunity to travel in style aboard a steam locomotive.

The Steam Dreams Rail Co will be heading off from Colchester to Norwich on April 11.

This unique trip will depart from Colchester behind B1 steam locomotive Mayflower, which returns to the tracks after a three-year refurbishment.

Departing around 12.45pm from Colchester, the train will head east, through Suffolk and the Fens, whilst dining passengers can enjoy a champagne brunch.

The train will pull into the cathedral city of Norwich at 2.25pm, where passengers can spend the afternoon.

Alternatively, they can continue on the journey to the Mid Norfolk Railway, to travel along 15 miles of preserved standard gauge heritage railway, with a short time to explore the town of Dereham.

Passengers will rejoin the train at around 5.50pm at Dereham, or 7pm at Norwich, and have the option to enjoy a meal on the journey home, before arriving back in Colchester at 8.40pm.

"It is the first of its kind for us and we are very excited to be running it with this fantastic locomotive, which is from the same design stable as the famous Flying Scotsman.”

Tickets for Steam Dreams Rail Co trip to Norwich and The Mid Norfolk Railway are available in four classes, ranging from £109 per person in Premium Standard through to the top class of Pullman Style Dining of £269 per person.
