CANDIDATES have been announced for the upcoming Aveley and Uplands by-election.

The candidates nominated are: Charles John Curtis (Labour), David Van Day (Conservative), Alan Field (Thurrock Independents), and Tomas Pilvelis (Liberal Democrat).

The poll will be held on Thursday, March 21 and polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.

The polling stations are at: Aveley Methodist Church Hall, at Shannon Way, Aveley Public Hall, at Purfleet Road, The Sycamores, at Dacre Avenue, Aveley, and Hugh Delargy Hall, at Wood Avenue, Uplands Estate.

Polling cards have been delivered to all eligible electors in the Aveley and Uplands ward on the Electoral Register.

If you have not registered to vote you have until midnight on Tuesday, March 5 to apply.

Applications can be made online at gov.uk/register-to-vote or by calling 01375 652 816.

If you need a postal vote for this election, the deadline to apply is 5pm on Wednesday, March 6.
