A STUDENT was knocked to the ground during an attack at a bus stop.

The incident allegedly involved pupils from The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College.

It is understood a boy had his legs pulled away causing him to fall on his face and knocking him out.

Police were called to investigate.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We received reports that a boy was assaulted in Nevendon Road, Wickford, at around 3.25pm on Tuesday.

“We were called after the boy was struck in the face and knocked to the ground after being approached by four people.

“The victim did not require hospital treatment.

“No arrests have been made.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Basildon police station on 101 quoting crime reference 42/23506/19 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

It is not yet clear if it was a deliberate attempt to injure the pupil or a stupid prank gone wrong.

The school, off Grange Avenue, Wickford, was contacted for details but did not respond to requests.

However parents made their views known as word spread in social media.

One concerned resident said: “Another accident caused by the school kids from Bromfords School messing around at the bus stop - this happens daily.

“Apparently two other children pulled away a boys legs from behind and it resulted in him becoming unconscious.

“Do you really know what your kids get up to.”

Other parents also hit out at the students for this behaviour that they branded as “completely unacceptable”.

Another stated: “I drove past when a lady was with someone who was on the floor with a blanket over them.

“I hope they’ll be okay.”

Another said: “While waiting for my son after school, I often see a lot of kids pushing each other in the road and running across the road without looking, they don’t seem to be aware of the dangers.

“It is so worrying.” The police investigation continues.
