A BASILDON student is celebrating his sporting success.
Matijus Mikalickas, a Year Nine student at the Basildon Academies, finished as a runner-up at the District Athletics Cross Country competition.
He will now go on to represent the academy at the regional event.
He said: “I trained regularly for this event so I was prepared for it. I feel really proud that I came second.”
