A man has been arrested following a double shooting in Southend which has left two people fighting for life.

Police and the ambulance service were called to an address in Sutton Road shortly after 7.20pm today, Sunday, January 13.

A woman and a man were found with life threatening injuries.

They are believed to have been shot and are receiving medical treatment.

Witnesses reported an air ambulance landing in the nearby Victory sports ground.

The man, whose age is not known at this time, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation and our enquiries are ongoing.”
