Banned from Basildon: The yob teen who has caused months of trouble but can't be named

The 17-year-old, from Basildon, was arrested a number of times during 2018, for offences relating to anti-social behaviour, drugs, and violence.

After breaching previous court orders, including one banning him from entering the town centre, he was made subject of a criminal behaviour order at Basildon Magistrates’ Court this week.

After his arrests last year, he was issued with a community protection warning which prevented him from entering Basildon town centre and the surrounding area.

The 17-year-old breached this order on November 26 and was subsequently issued with a community protection notice which he went on to break four times across a two-day period in December 2018.

He was arrested on Tuesday, December 4, and taken to Basildon Magistrates’ Court the following day where his case was adjourned until Tuesday where he was made subject to the order.

It now prevents the teenager from entering Basildon town centre and surrounding areas, excluding for appointments with any public or professional bodies. But these have to be made in advance.

PC Murray Weir, from Basildon Community Policing Team, said: “This teenager has been causing an issue in the town centre for a number of months with multiple police resources and time being spent dealing with his difficult and criminal behaviour.

“Working with the Crown Prosecution Service to secure this Criminal Behaviour Order will help us enforce his behaviour, stop harm and disruption to the local community and allow us to spend time dealing with those that need our help.

These orders are given to those that cause disorder and are granted by the Crown Prosecution Service to help officers enforce order and protect the community.

Basildon Community Policing Team worked with the Crown Prosecution Service to secure the order.
