A WOMAN was hurled across a bar during an unprovoked attack during a night out.

Police have released a CCTV image after the victim was thrown over a table by a man bragging about having spent time in prison.

Police would like to speak to the man pictured in connection with the attack on a 37-year-old woman.

It happened at about 9pm on Saturday, November 10 at Ugo’s Bar, Broadway West, Leigh.

The victim suffered bruising to her legs and arms.

She told the Echo: “I asked him to please move as he’d settled himself in my chair while I’d gone to the ladies.

“When I got back my friend looked like a rabbit in headlights, so I said ‘is everything alright here?.

“He was making quite rude and derogatory comments and bragging about how he’d been to prison.

“He was refusing to get out of the chair and go back to his table where his friends were.

“Then he grabbed my arm and said ‘I’ll go when I’m ready’ then threw me so hard I bounced off a table and across the room.

“I was really frightened and it hurt a lot, it has made me very wary now.”

Luckily, another man in the bar witnessed the assault and intervened, before another group of men in the bar ushered the perpetrator out.

She added: “A lovely man pushed him away from me, then he got bundled out.

“He then attempted to come back in the front door at Ugo’s but the public stopped him.

“I’ve always been to Ugo’s and it is not that sort of place, it’s quite an older crowd where people sit down for a drink in a great atmosphere.”

Police released a CCTV image of the man they wish to speak to.

He appears to be wearing tight jeans with rips at the knees, Nike Air Max trainers, and has his hair styled in curtains.

James Donnelly, co-owner of Ugo’s Café Bar, said: “We are saddened to experience this behaviour in our otherwise safe and family-friendly environment.

“Our strict no-nonsense policy has ensured for over 23 years our history of any incidence of this type has been completely avoided.

“We offer our continued support for the victim and the police in this matter.”
