Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was hit by a car.
Officers were called at around 7.55pm yesterday, November 11, after a 79-year-old woman was in collision with a dark coloured people carrier in Benfleet High Street.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We understand that the driver remained at the scene for a short period but failed to provide his details. The incident took place close to The Beauty Bar.
"The woman was taken to hospital for a foot injury and chest pains after falling to the floor.
"We arrested a 43-year-old man from Canvey at around 1.05am today on suspicion of failing to stop following an accident, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, driving under the influence, careless driving and failing to report an accident. He has been released under investigation, pending further enquiries."
Anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage is asked to call Chigwell Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting incident 1108 of 11/11.
