STUDENTS at a Canvey school got a true taste of the outdoors when they embarked on a trip to the Lake District and even had the chance to dive into the lake at night.
Year 11 pupils at the Cornelius Vermuyden School, Dinant Avenue, in Canvey, took on a number of a challenges throughout the trip from rock climbing, to hiking through mountains and climbing through underground tunnels.
They were also required to camp overnight as well as trying a host of different methods of transport.
From canoeing to building their own rafts and rowing them through the lake the children were able to enjoy the frosty treat with some even going for a well earned dip in the refreshing water.
The aim of the experience was to encourage pupils to reflect on their effort levels, their communication skills, stretch their comfort zones and their goal setting.
As part of the trip, the 15-16 year olds had to write their own action plans, outlining the skills they had learned and how they were going to transfer them into their lives back home.
