A home in Leigh has been completely destroyed after a fire started in an airing cupboard.
Two fire crews, one from Leigh and one from Rayleigh, rushed to Leighwood Avenue in Leigh, shortly before 1pm today (November 11) after reports there was a fire in a first-floor flat.
On arrival firefighters reported that there was a fire inside an airing cupboard in the hallway of the property.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire by 1.30pm and then ventilated the flat.
The flat has suffered both fire and smoke damage and is now uninhabitable.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
