Sunshine welcomed hundreds of people who turned out to celebrate an aerodrome’s connections to the Great War.

Stow Maries Aerodrome held its Stow At War event last weekend.

The popular event saw vintage aircraft take to the skies for a magnificent air display.

There were also performances from the Great War Society, 10th Essex Living History Group and the Royal Navy Blue Jackets.

Chief executive Ian Flint said: “It fills the heart with emotion to see these classic aircraft flying in the skies above Essex.

“With hundreds of members of the local and regional communities present, the atmosphere was wonderful – a great family day.

“We hope to repeat the event next year.”
