A SOUTHEND school has raised more than £1,000 for charity with a Christmas-themed week of activities.

Darlinghurst Academy, in Pavilion Drive, had a festive week of events, from the classic nativity through to Christmas Jumper Day and even the twelve school days of Christmas.

The school choir also performed alongside the Orpheus Choir and Southend Band as part of their Christmas Celebration Concert.

Their Christmas charity this year was for Macmillan Cancer Support and the school raised £1,426.00.

A spokesman for the school said that they were very proud of the children for their singing and taking part in the activities to raise much-needed funds.
