A NEW champagne bar is set to open soon at Southend Airport.

People travelling from the airport will be able to enjoy drinks and food at the new Bourgee Bites – Bar – Luxe Lounge from the end of May.

The bar will be run by Bourgee, which has two restaurant venues – on Eastern Esplanade in Southend and Exchange Way in Chelmsford.

Both are hugely popular with diners.

The restaurants specialise in lobster, steak and fine dining.

The bar bosses say that customers will be able to enjoy a Champagne Bar, as well as food including tapas style snacks.

Mark Baumann, British Master Chef and Director of Bourgee, said the new champagne bar will reflect the look and quality of the company’s restaurants in Southend and Chelmsford.

He added: “While our menu will be in a tapas style, the food will continue to be sourced from the very best suppliers, all served in a warm, welcoming and luxurious setting.

“We have a strong reputation within Essex, but the ad - dition of Southend Airport means we can bring our signature Bourgee format to the international and wider UK market.

“As the airport builds to become a major flight pathway with the addition of the new European routes, we anticipate welcoming a host of new brand fans to the Bourgee family.”

James Welling, Bourgee Director, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be playing a pivotal role in Southend Airport’s development plans as their new European routes are unveiled.

“The addition of the Bites – Bar - Luxe Lounge will ensure guests have the opportunity to start their holiday early, with an affordable slice of luxury to kick start their trip.”

Glyn Jones, chief execu - tive of Stobart Aviation said: “Southend Airport is amid its next exciting development phase. With new European routes starting this month, the airport itself is getting ready to welcome their new passengers with a brand-new retail offering.”
