A CHARITY is calling upon businesses across Essex to give a home to one its collection tins and collect donations to help provide its care.

In November, Havens Hospices, based in Chalkwell Avenue, Westcliff, launched a #greattinhunt where it asked supporters in the community to return their full up tins to be emptied and replaced. Throughout the festive period the charity raised £11,959 from collection tins and bucket collections.

It now hopes to raise money throughout 2016 by placing a total of 200 more tins inside shops, pubs, restaurants, businesses and offices across Essex.

Sally Bridger, Community Fundraiser for Havens Hospices, said, “It’s brilliant that so many local people proudly display our collection tins and pop donations into them as well as allowing their customers, colleagues and visitors to do the same. We now have lots of collection tins looking for homes out in the community so they can be used to collect even more donations. For every £1 that’s donated into one of our collection tins we can keep caring for another 20 seconds, the time it takes to put the kettle on, make someone comfortable in bed or give reassurance that we’re here for them. So please call us today so we can arrange delivery of your tin and your donations can start ‘Making every day count’.”
