FANCY a literary inspired salad day in Southend? If reading, writing, books and authors are what you crave, an event this weekend at the Forum will surely be good for you.

Salad stands for Southend Local Area Author’s Days and will feature a two-day programme of talks, readings and storytelling held at the Forum, in Southend, this Saturday and Sunday.

The event will bring together a host of local authors as part of the 2016 Essex Book Festival and will be officially opened by the Mayor of Southend, Councillor Andrew Moring at 10am on Saturday.

Local novelists, fiction writers, storytellers, creative writers, poets and literary experts will all be on hand offering a packed programme of events and talks.

Among them will be Tessa and Louise Buckley, historical specialist Andrew Summers, John Debenham and Robert Hallman as well as other Essex based author Stephen Massie, Neil Milton, Robert Hallman, Shirley Baker and Dennis Thompson. Hawkwell children’s book writer and illustrator Ann Duggans- Robson has organised the event and is the creator of the ‘the Pink Mouse Gang’ series of children books Each author will have a stand in the Forum Foyer and many will be giving informative talks in the Deeping Room.
