Rock ‘n’ roll local legend Steve Hooker is standing firm and showing solidarity with Paris, insisting he will still play there tonight.

He will be appearing with his Stripped Down Stompin’ Band tonight at 8pm at La Feline.

He said on Monday this week: “We almost cancelled our gig in Paris because it should have been part of a longer trip that didn’t come off and it’s a long way to travel for one night.

“But after the attack on the Bataclan, we knew the show had to go on.”

He added: “Rock ‘n’ Roll was unfashionable here in the Eighties and Nineties but we were able to tour Europe extensively with the Shakers then Rumble – we had French and German management and signed with a Paris-based label.

“France has always been special for us and it’s important now to repay the respect that has been shown to us.”

The band’s next gig on home turf will be on Saturday, December 5 at the Railway Hotel, Clifftown Road, Southend, at 8pm.

Harmonica Alice on blues harp will be joining the band onstage for two sets previewing their forthcoming album Duende Blues.
