Scarlet Echo have been steadily gathering fans since bursting onto the music scene with their spellbinding, fierce sound and smattering of top venue gigs.

They’ve supported the likes of Bassment Jaxx, DJ Ralph Dan Martin, Rat Boy, Matt Horne (DJ set), Hadouken, the Hoosiers, Department S, the Buzzcocks and Sigma.

On Friday they released their new single, Emergency Exit, along with a fantastic music video directed by photographer Kana Waiwaiku, who works closely with the likes of the Asylums and Petty Phase.

It comes ahead of the band’s much-anticipated debut album which is being launched on Thursday, November 19, with a gig held the same night at the Bassment in Chelmsford to mark the occasion.

Hannah Stanbury, the band’s frontwoman, said: “With this album we tried to do something different...

people can expect the unexpected. We’re all really proud of it. It’s gapless – each song leads into another without stopping.

“We didn’t have enough money to go into a recording studio so we saved up and bought a mixing desk ourselves, and recorded it ourselves. We did the vocals in Alex’s cupboard. It was so much fun and it was great – the acoustics were really good in that cupboard.”

Scarlet Echo are Hannah on vocals and guitars, Jamie Burrow on guitars, Miles Hobbs on bass and Alex on drums and samples.

The band have received lots of play on many radio shows including BBC Essex, XRP Radio, Phoenix FM, Gateway FM and CCR FM.

Their single releases have been played on BBC Introducing and their last single was described, by Ollie Winiburg, as “a masterpiece”.

Emergency Exit is available on iTunes as a digital download.
