COLWYN Bay comedy fans will have a rare chance this week to witness classic comedy on the big screen - and chat with legendary late comic Bill Hicks’ brother!

In partnership with Steve Doherty, a renowned BBC radio comedy producer, and Old Colwyn's TAPE Community Arts and Film, Stand-up at the Seaside MC Dave Rothnie will present a pop up cinema at The Station on Friday, November 16.

Featuring a double bill of Monty Python's and the Holy Grail and Bill Hicks: Revelation, the screening will take place as part of the British Film Institute's Comedy Genius season

As if that wasn't enough, there will be a special talk with James Gent, editor of the pop culture website We Are Cult and a long-time Python fan, as well as a Q&A with Steve Hicks, Bill’s brother.

Rothnie said: "While Bill is sadly no longer with us, the audience will have an incredible opportunity to talk about the great man and his work in a live Skype link with his brother Steve. We intend this to be fun evening, so questions and a lively discussion are encouraged. We don't want people to feel like it will be too uptight cinema and are happy for them to come and go as they please.

"No comedy screening would be complete without Monty Python, and this film has special local significance given Terry Jones comes from Colwyn Bay. Indeed, the screening will take place in the Terry Jones suite at the Station. James Gent is a Python expert with an incredible knowledge of and passion for their body of work."

Steve Swindon, chief executive officer of TAPE said: “The TAPE team is really excited to be working with Dave and Steve to put this unique and very special event together, which brings the BFI Comedy Genius celebration to Colwyn Bay."

The show starts with the Pythons at 7pm, tickets are £2 on the door.
