Marilyn Monroe's doctor's notes and X-rays which are going under the hammer show that the Hollywood legend did have plastic surgery, according to reports.

The documents confirm rumours that the blonde bombshell went under the knife before starring in the likes of Some Like It Hot and The Seven Year Itch, according to E!

The X-rays and doctor's notes were documented by Hollywood plastic surgeon Michael Gurdin between 1950 and 1962.

The collection is now up for sale with Julien's Auction House in California.

Documents reveal that Marilyn, under the alias Joan Newman, had a cartilage implant for a "chin deformity" in 1950.

A facial X-ray showing she had a fracture on her nose is said to back up claims that Marilyn, who died on August 5, 1962 from an overdose of barbiturates at the age of 36, had a slight rhinoplasty early in her career.

"Nobody really thought about Marilyn Monroe having plastic surgery. It was always speculation - did she or didn't she?" Martin Nolan, executive director of Julien's Auctions, told Reuters. "They thought she was such a natural beauty...They didn't want to believe."
