Jessica Judd shows no signs of rustiness in first race back after World Junior Championships

JESSICA Judd ran her first race since the World Junior Championships in Barcelona on Wednesday night – and showed little sign of rustiness.

The 17-year-old, who won a silver medal in the 800m in Barcelona and finished fifth in the 1,500m, won the BMC 800m at Eltham in 2m 1.3s.

The Canvey teenager is warming up for a big week ahead.

She flies out to Switzerland next week to run in an under-20 1,500m on the same bill as the Diamond League meeting in Lausanne on Thursday.

She will then make her full Diamond League debut at Birmingham next Sunday (August 26) in the 800m.

It was a good night for Jessica’s younger sister Jodie too.

The 13-year-old ran a personal best to win her 800m in 2m 16.61s.

Southend AC duo Tom Frith and Adam Hickey also returned with new PBs. Frith run 1m 53.98s to set a new 800m best while Hickey continued his fine season with another personal best, this time in the 1,500m where he ran 3m 49.44s.

Gemma Kersey (Basildon AC) was a class apart in the women’s 1,500m, winning in 4m 23.38s as she prepares to compete over one-mile in Belgium tomorrow.

Basildon AC’s Jack Fitsall (4m 18.57s) and Thurrock Harriers’ Tom Richardson (3m 59.77s) ran the 1,500m while Grant Webb (Basildon AC) ran a 2m 2.94s 800m.
